Position Summary:
The Production Associate supports day-to-day manufacturing operations by ensuring the right materials and components are available at the right time to meet production goals. This role involves coordinating with suppliers, processing purchase orders, and tracking material needs based on production schedules. The Production Associate works closely with Supply Chain and Engineering teams to help manage changes to the bill of materials (BOM), reduce waste, and maintain efficient workflows. Regular interaction with internal departments such as Manufacturing, Finance, Logistics, and Program Management is essential to ensure alignment and accuracy. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach are key to success in this role.
As this position is part of a team working on federal contracts, U.S. citizenship is a requirement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Material planning. Determining the requirements of raw materials, components and other items needed for on-time production. Working with pricing and lead-time constraints to ensure efficient manufacturing.
- Developing and maintaining vendor relationships; researching, selecting and evaluating suppliers based on quality, timeliness and price; negotiating prices and contracts.
- Creating and maintaining partnerships with customers, suppliers or third-party service providers by establishing common goals, objectives and performance targets to improve service levels and enhance customer satisfaction.
- Processing orders for goods and services, via telephone or other electronic means, to ensure speed and accuracy.
- Collaborating with the Supply Chain and Engineering departments to support bill of material (BOM) changes, minimizing obsolescence and waste.
- Working fluidly in a highly cross-functional team environment, frequently interacting with the Manufacturing, Program Management, Finance, Product Management, Engineering, Supply Chain and Logistics departments.
Qualifications:
- At least 2-4 years of industry experience.
- Possess an Associate’s degree or equivalent. A Bachelor's degree is a plus.
- U.S. Citizen
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills. Must be organized, responsible and a self-starter.
- Familiarity with computerized accounting, purchasing and word processing programs.
- Ability to meet operational and financial targets.
- Skilled in inventory management and control.
- Must be comfortable working in a process-controlled environment.
Pay Scale and Benefits: $40,000 – $50,000 per year.
